HOW WILL RECIPES BE JUDGED?
All entries must meet the contest requirements. Recipe entries must use a baking method of preparation, must be for a holiday appetizer, bread or dessert, must be newly created by the contestant and must be entirely gluten-free.

Initial judging will be done by a Gluten Free Canada Gluten-Free Panel, consisting of Gluten Free Canada employees from the promotions and marketing divisions, and group of Gluten Free Canada gluten free consumers, (“Judges”) for appropriate use of eligible products in addition to the criteria outlined below for the finalist recipes:

  • Taste
  • Creativity
  • Ease of Preparation
  • Appearance

Judges will disqualify previously published recipes, such as, but not limited to those in major cookbooks, in magazines, from food companies, on major food or recipe websites and winners in national contests, unless the recipe features changes considered significant by the judges. Judges maintain the right to reject entries that are deemed inappropriate.

Gluten Free Canada will select and supply the ingredients and cooking equipment to be used during judging. Gluten Free Canada reserves the right to substitute comparable products at its discretion. Judging to determine Finalists will be done by a panel of food experts. During the judging process to determine Finalists, recipes will be tested by Gluten Free Canada to ensure that they are entirely gluten-free. If a recipe is found to contain gluten, that entry will be disqualified. Winners will be required to certify, on information or belief, that their recipes are their own creation and have not been published or publicized and have not won a national contest. Decision of the judges is final in all matters relating to this Contest.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I’M A FINALIST?
One finalist will be announced each month in the Gluten Free Expo monthly Newsletter.

Finalists will be encouraged to promote their recipe during the public vote. Eligible votes submitted during the public voting period will determine the Grand Prize Winner. Gluten Free Canada may prohibit any individual from participating in the contest or winning a prize if, in their sole discretion, they determine that said individual is attempting to undermine the legitimate operation of the contest by cheating, hacking, deception, or other unfair practices; violating the Official Rules; or acting in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner at any time during the Contest, or are intending to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person. By submitting your recipe, you accept all contest rules and agree to be bound by the decisions of the judges, which will be final.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I WIN?
If you are the Grand Prize Winner, you will be notified on or about April 25, 2013. The Grand Prize winner will be announced on the Internet at glutenfreeexpo.ca/contest following the competition, on or about April 26, 2013.
